John Maldonado of MaldoPhotography is a Los Angeles headshot photographer for actors, models and corporate executives. Also a sought-after film, television, fashion, editorial and edgy street still photographer, John Maldonado works as a travel and destination photographer, architecture and interiors photographer, and a table-top, product, food and catalog photographer.
John Maldonado first started his photography at the age of 14 when he was given a Nikon SLR for his birthday. A few weeks later he talked his way on stage with Sly and The Family Stone and photographed the concert for his school newspaper. John studied acting at Pittsburgh’s prestigious Carnegie-Mellon University. Upon graduation, John moved to Los Angeles to pursue an acting career. Under the stage name of John Vargas, he appeared in a number of feature films. e.g. “ZOOLANDER”, “THE MINUS MAN”, “PRIMARY COLORS”,”SUNSET PARK”, and “STAR TREK II: THE WRATH OF KHAN,” and has logged more than 50 guest star appearances on episodic television series.
Working closely with preeminent directors the like of Mike Nichols, Nicholas Meyer, Glen Jordan and Ben Stiller, John quietly observed, studied and learned from them – a cumulative experience which fueled his foray into film direction and resulted in the garnering of numerous awards for filmmaking excellence. His short "GLASS TOPS" received the Special Jury Award at the San Luis Obispo International Film Festival in the George Sydney Independent film Competition, and was an official selection at the Coney Island Film Festival and at the San Juan Cinefest in Puerto Rico. He is a recipient of the Dewers Young Artist Recognition Award.

He has photographed several exclusive industry events, including the 2006 Miss America Pageant in Las Vegas, Montrose Chandler’s 2006 spring collection during LA’s fashion week, La Bijou Belle jewelry launch campaign, and the 25th Anniversary of the “Culture Clash” in 2009.
